The Artwork

The artwork at The Retreat was all done by local artist Nina Beall.  Guests will see large and small works throughout the Cabin, and there are even some souvenirs for sale along with her work!  Here's what she says about her work and why she chose Austin after exhibiting internationally, and living in Chicago following grad school there and establishing herself as a professional artist:  "As a native Texan, I was drawn to the Austin area and its quiet, peaceful environment with rolling hills, incredible views for miles, abundance of large shade trees, and spring fed creek.  As an artist and painter for most of my life, the area seemed ideal for building my home and studio in a style that fit with the environment and tastes. I'm inspired by the contrasts of nature, and the hill country with so many waterways, native plants, and easy access for traveling elsewhere to other areas that inspire my work."

 

Undergrad degree is from The University of Texas, Austin, and graduate degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Several years of teaching at the college level as well as numerous NEA grants for my work and teaching skills; I enjoy sharing my skills with others.  The work has been shown extensively around the country and internationally in galleries and museums, as well as corporate and private collections.  Work is available for sale online, and studio visits are just a short walk from your accommodation, and are possible by appointment.  Just ask!.  Just reach out to www.NinaBeall.com  Thanks!
